ANS: “Eight members of the rescue team have reached the crash site today [Thursday] morning. IAF is sad to inform that there are no survivors from the crash of An-32,” IAF said in a tweet.
The 13 personnel on board have been identified as Wing Commander G.M. Charles, Squadron Leader H. Vinod, Flight Lieutenants R. Thapa, A. Tanwar, S. Mohanty and M.K. Garg, Warrant Officer K.K. Mishra, Sgt. Anoop Kumar, Cpl. Sherin, Leading Aircraft Men S.K. Singh, Pankaj, Non-Combatant Enrolled Putali and Rajesh Kumar. The families of the personnel had been informed, officials said.
The wreckage of the aircraft was spotted on Tuesday 16 km north of Lipo, northeast of Tato, at an approximate elevation of 12,000 ft by an IAF Mi-17 helicopter undertaking a search at the expanded zone.
The An-32 with 13 personnel took off from Jorhat in Assam at 12.27 hrs on June 3 for Mechuka Advanced Landing Ground in Arunachal Pradesh but lost contact around 13.00 hrs.
