ANS: Former President Pranab Mukherjee is in critical condition and is on a ventilator after undergoing successful brain surgery for removal of a clot at the Army’s Research and Referral Hospital in Delhi on Tuesday.
Mukherjee is currently on ventilator support and his condition is critical, hospital authority said.
Today evening the hospital authority said in a statement that, “The former president, who underwent life-saving emergency surgery for brain clot on August 10 has not shown any improvement and his health status has worsened. He remains on ventilatory support.” He was also found to be COVID-19 positive, it stated.
Mukherjee was admitted to R&R hospital at 12:07 p.m. on Monday. After tested positive for COVID-19, Mukherjee tweeted: “On a visit to the hospital for a separate procedure, I have tested positive for COVID-19 today. I request the people who came in contact with me in the last week, to please self isolate and get tested for COVID-19.”
