Bokaro: Over 40 persons who tested positive for Coronavirus had gone traceless in Bokaro district, police and health department officials are still on the hunt to catch them.

The officials in the health department were left high-and-dry when they unable to trace around 40 COVID-19 positive patients; their investigation reports rushed to health officials on Monday and Tuesday, informed AK Pathak.

After receiving the investigation reports, we had initiated tracing (over their phone and addresses) to shift them to the COVID-19 isolation facility. As per the protocol, the Health Department officials have to convey the patient the test results telephonically immediately after the test reports from the lab reaches to them, said Pathak.

“While trying to contact them, we found their mobile numbers were either not active or switched-off; even their addresses are also fake” added Pathak.

We do not know why, but at the time of sample collections, they were mentioned their wrong address and mobile numbers, said Civil Surgeon.

The health department officials, staffs, are still at work to find out those peoples.

“We have already handed over a list of those patients to the Superintendent of Police Bokaro and cops are on the hunt,” added Pathak.

Those people are still openly moving on the city roads and spreading the virus infection. Perhaps they also not know that they are COVID-19 positive, said an official.

Bokaro saw a huge spike in Coronavirus infection cases during the past few weeks. On Tuesday sixty-eight more people tested positive for COVID-19 in the district, taking the tally to 430 active cases, while one more death due to the disease pushed the toll to 11, said an official.

A doctor SD Jha, resident of Lohanchal Colony, Sector 12 in Bokaro Steel City, died due to COVID-19 infection last night. He was admitted at a Bardhwa based hospital with complaints of shortness of breath; earlier, he was posted at ESI Hospital Dhanbad, informed Dr Meeta Singh, President IMA Chas.

“Around 68 new cases were confirmed in a day. All have been shifted to COVID Hospital and contact tracing of all is being done,” said AK Pathak Civil Surgeon Bokaro.

Though, 31 persons were discharged from COVID Hospital Bokaro General Hospital (BGH) and COVID Care Center Bokaro after they were tested negative for the Sars-Cov-2 virus for the second time and sent back to their home after recovering fully, said Rajesh Kumar Singh, Deputy Commissioner Bokaro.

Concerned over the huge spike in Coronavirus positive cases in the district Singh said, everyone needs to be vigilant. He appealed, “Support the administration in making the district free from COVID-19, follow SOP.”

Notably, around 30,500 samples have been collected till by Monday in the district, reported 1008 COVID-19 positive (by till date), 15677 negative while the investigation report of 16,176 is still awaited. All total 568 were recovered while the death toll rushed for 11 in the district, sources said.
