Bokaro: Vedanta-Electrosteel (ESL) on the move to establish an ultra-modern archery academy training center at Bokaro.

ESL recently announced to upgrade the existing Archery training center into an Archery Academy — ‘Vedanta Archery Academy’, enhancing its commitment to grassroots sports growth and community upliftment in the state.

Archery is one of the most popular and traditional sports in the state of Jharkhand. Keeping this in mind, ESL aims to develop and upgrade its currently operational Archery center into a complete training academy that will identify, nurture, and train local youth, said a Public Relations official of ESL.

Pankaj Malhan, CEO ESL said, we wanted to establish the best sports facilities for nurturing the next generation of sports achievers for the state and the country. And with that view, the experts from the sports fraternity have been roped in.

“We are planning to build a well-equipped academy with trained professionals as well as residential and dining facilities for students. We will also provide nutrition, medical assistance, and entire archery kits to all students who will be trained at the academy.”

Ashish Ranjan, Head – Community Relations said, “At ESL, it is our constant endeavor to discover hidden talents, provide them with proper training and the right platform to make Jharkhand proud. We will provide archery training in Under 9, 14, and 17 year’s categories. With this state-of-the-art academy, the budding archers of Jharkhand will be able to sharpen their skills and compete at national levels.”

Manoj Kumar Tiwari, Head – Chandaha Gram Panchayat said “I deeply appreciate the ESL CSR team for its efforts and support provided to the youth of our village and wish all the players and students a bright and successful future.”

ESL has already been instrumental in nurturing the talent of Yavna kumari, a 5-year-old child prodigy being trained at ESL’s Archery Training Centre. She belongs to a remote village Moonidih in Jharkhand and has participated in and won many state-level championships. The academy has trained around 35 students in the first batch. In the future, ESL plans to identify and empower more such young achievers and hone their skills.

ESL’s CSR program for sports is a facilitator for the rural youth to transform their lives and spread their horizon of opportunities. It is a small step towards overcoming the challenges and creating an equitable and efficient sporting avenue to develop traditional skills.
