Bokaro: DPS Bokaro once again had a proud moment with one of its alumni, Sanchit Kumar (2017 batch) made it to the top honour in Netherland based KPMG’s (Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler) Ideation Challenge (KIC) Global Student Competition by his meritorious performance.
Team, ‘Navacharitam’ from the IIT-ISM, Dhanbad, led by Sanchit Kumar, has crowned champions of KPMG’s ‘KPMG Ideation Challenge’ (KIC) 2020 for developing a solution that brings disruptive innovation to the mining industry. The winning team members, led by Sanchit Kumar included Varnika Kumari, Parth Hetamsaria and Srajan Gupta. The team is currently in the process of patenting its solution.
Notably, KPMG International hosted its 17th annual global KPMG Ideation Challenge (KIC) on August 24-25, 2020. The hackathon-style competition, taking place virtually for the first time, gathered both STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and business students to help solve real-world business issues with AI and other emerging technology-based tools and solutions.
Out of more than 8,000 applicants across 19 countries, 17 student teams were chosen from 500 leading universities to advance to the final phase of the event. The top three finalist teams were the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, India, Zhejiang University in China and University of Florida in the US.
The winning team will receive US$50,000 in seed funding to bring their idea to market with coaching and guidance from KPMG professionals. All participating teams retain intellectual property rights for their ideas and solutions.
Speaking about his success, Sanchit said, “I would like to thank DPS Bokaro for giving me a wonderful foundation and an amazing memory that I can cherish for a lifetime. Thank you to all the teachers who helped and corrected me when I was in school and guided me in the right direction. DPS Bokaro will always be an integral part of my life.”
