Bokaro: Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) has been awarded the prestigious ELETS National Water Innovation Award in the category of Leading Corporate (PSU) for its significant contribution in the field of industrial water conservation.
SAIL Director (Technical) and CEO BSL Harinand Rai has received this award on behalf of the steel Plant, informed a BSL Public Relations Official.
The award was announced to BSL in the National Water Innovation Conference -2020 organized in association with ELETS Techno Media and Water Power Ministry, Government of India. The nomination document was sent to the Jury by Bokaro Steel Plant’s Environmental Control Department and SAIL EMD, Kolkata.
Notably, Bokaro Steel Plant is a water-positive company where the water for production is not taken from the groundwater sources, but rather the groundwater level is raised by the water stored in the cooling pound spread over five square kilometers, said the official.
In the direction of water conservation efforts, a rainwater harvesting project at Bokaro Steel Plant has also been completed and the process of five other such projects is going on.
