Bokaro: ESL Steel Limited, a Vedanta Group Company has launched ‘Vedanta Excel 30’—another education initiative “Project Prerna” for students from the marginalized sections of the society on Saturday.
Under this, ESL is offering a scholarship programme where the top 10 students will award with the Prerna Scholarships based on their performance under Vedanta Excel 30 programme to peruse their higher education.
With the project, ESL aims to provide quality and equitable educational opportunities to the students for their wholesome development so that they can achieve greater heights, informed a Public Relations Official of ESL.
Launched within ESL’s operational areas, the project will improve and strengthen the educational base by focusing on maximizing student’s enrolment in every center, developing innovative learning methodologies, ensuring educational development of students with a qualitative and quantitative approach, studying and measuring the efforts and inputs given by teachers, capacity building or effectiveness of both teachers and volunteers, he said.
S. Venkataraman, CHRO, ESL said, “Project Prerna is an extensive project by ESL which will encompass the complete growth of the students within the company’s operational areas.
The most exciting is that ESL employees will be contributing to the project by inducting cognitive skills such as numeracy, critical thinking, and literacy and non-cognitive skills such as creativity, communication and leadership amongst the students, he said.
“They will facilitate in school-to-college or school-to-work transition through mentorship, counselling, career guidance including others. Their primary aim will be to help students acquire career and life skills. I wish the employees and students all the best,” he added.
The project will touch upon four growth procedures, including Prerna Tutorials which will hold remedial classes for elementary to middle-level students so that their very base can be made strong. Prerna Centers will cater to students from 9 and 10 standards and will strengthen their performances while preparing them for further studies.
Meanwhile, ‘Vedanta Excel 30’ will cater to Prerna Center graduates who opt for Science and aim to sit for an engineering entrance exam. They would be coached for engineering subjects such as Physics, Maths, English, Chemistry, and MS Office, he informed.
These subjects will be taught by the employees (engineers) of ESL under CSR Volunteering Programme; Prerna Drawing Centers which will help the students to develop their creative skills.
