ANS: Aiming to create awareness on HIV, its causes, symptoms, and necessary measures for prevention, ESL Steel Limited, organised a mega HIV Awareness Campaign and STI check-up camp on Tuesday.

ESL, a national steel manufacturer from the Vedanta Group, organised the camps in association with the District Aids Control Society and implementing partner Citizens Foundation, mainly targeting truckers, drivers, workers and villagers, informed a Public Relations Official of ESL.

More than 100 participants have got their HIV testing done in the camps. Masks, sanitizers and contraceptive were also distributed during the event as well as the street play was organised to make the participants aware on HIV/AIDS.

The health initiative jointly organised by ESL Steel’s CSR and HSE Teams was attended by Dr. N P Singh, Head of District AIDS Control Deptartment, Government Health Department, Dr. K. K. Sinha, CMO, Citizens Foundation, and ESL leaders Sadhana Verma, Chief HSE and Ashish Ranjan, Head, Community Relations, and other stakeholders from the villages were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. N P Singh said, “In line with ESL’s commitment and passion to enhance the health and wellbeing of its community members, have held the mega HIV Awareness Campaign and STI check-up camp.”

The camp has been successful in reaching out to several people across Chas and Chandankiyari Block of Bokaro District, and spread awareness about the disease through the doctors present on the camp.

“I thank them for making this event a success and is always ready to support the organisation for this noble cause,” he added.

Leaders from the Citizens Foundation and ESL Steel also addressed to the people on the occasion. A street play was also organised and an HIV Test Camp held which made it an eventful day.

The company has been at the forefront of fighting the pandemic by supporting the District Administration and State Governments.
