ANS: Veteran comedian, Raju Srivastava, died at the age of 58 on Wednesday at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). He was admitted to AIIMS after a heart attack on 10 August. Srivastava was declared dead at 10.20 am, according to hospital sources.
He was hospitalized after he complained of chest pain while running on a treadmill at the gym. He also underwent an angioplasty the same day. Raju Srivastava had suffered severe brain damage after the cardiac arrest and had remained unconscious and under observation at AIIMS, Delhi, since 10 August. “He was fighting for life in the hospital for over 40 days,” said his brother Dipoo Srivastava.
Raju Srivastava was on a life support system at AIIMS, Delhi. The comedian regained consciousness after 15 days on ventilator support. However, on 1 September, he was put on ventilator support again after he ran a fever as high as 100 degrees.
Srivastava has worked in the entertainment industry since the late 1980s. He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
