JNS: Twitter reportedly sacked the entire marketing and communications team in India, media reports said. Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter, soon after acquiring the company last week sacked CEO Parag Agrawal along with Chief Financial Officer Ned Segal and Vijaya Gadde, head of legal, policy and trust.

In an internal email, the company said the cuts are “an effort to place Twitter on a healthy path”, BBC reported.

On Friday, the entire marketing and communications department of Twitter in India had been sacked, reported NDTV reported, citing sources. Though, Twitter India has not made an official statement, the media outlet reported that the sources revealed job cuts have affected all verticals including engineers.

The company reportedly planned to cut 3,700 jobs. On Friday, Twitter told employees in a memo that cuts would be finalised on Friday.

“In an effort to place Twitter on a healthy path, we will go through the difficult process of reducing our global workforce on Friday,” Twitter management said in an email reviewed by Bloomberg.

“We recognize that this will impact a number of individuals who have made valuable contributions to Twitter, but this action is unfortunately necessary to ensure the company’s success going forward.”

Defending his move of removing about half of Twitter’s workforce Elon Musk on Saturday tweeted that he had ‘no choice’ as the company was losing more than $4m a day.

“Everyone exited was offered 3 months of severance, which is 50% more than legally required,” he added in his tweet.
