ANS: Despite the Indian government’s nationwide ban, the Kerala Congress party openly screened the controversial BBC documentary about Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday in Thiruvananthapuram. Prime Minister Modi’s (then Gujarat CM) interview for a BBC documentary titled “India: The Modi Question” was censored in India.
Reports say that a BBC reporter asked the state government about the alleged violence by ethnic mobs that happened after the Gujarat riots in 2002. In Godhra, an attack and fire on a train full of Hindu pilgrims are said to have started the chaos.
The Congress Party organised the screening at a beach in Kerala’s capital, Thiruvananthapuram, amid heavy police deployment.
GS Babu, General Secretary of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), claims that the documentary drew a large audience. On Wednesday, the same documentary was shown in Kozhikode as it had been in other cities.
The film was also shown in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday by the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), the youth wing of the Communist Party of India (Marxist).
