# Only Principal from India to receive the coveted Award

ANS: Dr A. S. Gangwar, Principal, DPS Bokaro, has once again been acknowledged for his philanthropic initiatives at the global platform. He has been awarded the Excellence Award by the Global Academics Research Academy (GARA), an educational research organization established in Bangladesh.

The award was conferred in the presence of His Excellency Dr Abdulla Rashid, Minister of State for Education, Republic of Maldives.

Based on a global survey, GARA has conferred this honour to only nine people across the globe. The awards were conferred to Dr A.S. Gangwar (India), Professor Dr J. Malan (South Africa), Dr Chok Koon Lan (Malaysia), Professor Dr Hendrik Halim (Australia), Professor Tamina Akhtar (Bangladesh), Dr Ravi Kumar (United Kingdom), Professor Dr Tatva P. Timsina (Nepal), Professor Dr M. Tirupati (Zambia) and Dr Mansour Al Mahrous (Tunisia).

Dr Gangwar is the only one from India to have received this honour. He has been recognised for his passionate contribution to social welfare towards the betterment of society and the country. He is a compassionate academic leader who touches lives and inspires minds. He combines leadership and professional ethics.

Dr Gangwar gave the credit of this achievement to the school family. Expressing his gratitude to all the stakeholders, he said it has been possible only because of the dedicated commitment, hard work and coordination of all. “This award is a testament to the power of collective effort and community support, and I am inspired to continue to work towards creating a better world,” said Dr Gangwar.

Notably,  DPS Bokaro provides free education through ‘Deepansh Shiksha Kendra’ to children from underprivileged sections of society. With the aim to make women and girls self-reliant and financially independent, the school runs a training centre- ‘Koshish’, wherein the trainees are taught the skills of soft toy making, stitching, embroidery, knitting etc. The skill training of the first batch of school-run Skill Hub has concluded successfully, and around 30 trainees have qualified for the certification course under PMKVY3.0.  Apart from this, several community outreach programmes are conducted under the leadership of the Principal.

The Global Academics Research Academy (GARA), an organization established in Bangladesh, is the research arm of an organization of intellectuals operating for research and leadership development. It has chapters in the countries of Bangladesh, Canada, Malaysia, UAE, USA, Australia, Kenya, Zambia, Maldives, Oman, Pakistan, India, Uzbekistan, Brunei and Zimbabwe. The chapter is attended by education ministers, ambassadors, other global educationists, and policymakers from across the education sectors globally. The functions of the organization include issuing research-oriented international academic journals, organizing international seminars and others.
