Bangalore: In a momentous achievement, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has triumphantly executed the inaugural earth-bound manoeuvre of India’s pioneering solar mission, Aditya L1.

The remarkable feat was accomplished at the ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC) facility in Bengaluru.

In an official announcement conveyed via X (formally Twitter), the Indian Space Agency conveyed the successful execution of the earth-bound manoeuvre by ISTRAC in the early hours of today.

The spacecraft has flawlessly transitioned to a fresh orbital trajectory, positioning itself at an altitude of 245 kilometers while traversing a distance of 22,459 kilometers. Reports from ISRO affirm that the satellite remains in robust health and operational equilibrium.

This triumphant step marks the initiation of a carefully orchestrated series of orbital adjustments for Aditya L1.

Scheduled for September 5, around 3:00 pm, the next manoeuvre is poised to refine the spacecraft’s trajectory further. Over the course of the forthcoming months, a sequence of four additional earth-bound orbital manoeuvres is meticulously planned.

These intricate adjustments are strategically calculated to position the satellite on a precise trajectory towards the coveted Lagrange point L1. This transformative journey is anticipated to span 125 days.

The Aditya L1 mission stands poised to yield unprecedented insights into the enigmatic solar corona. Beyond that, it will engage in vital in-situ observations of the solar wind from its vantage point at L1, a location situated approximately 1.5 million kilometers from Earth.

This singular endeavour is primed to provide an extensive spectrum of data that will undoubtedly augment our understanding of the Sun’s dynamic behaviour and its far-reaching influence.

The Aditya L1 spacecraft’s triumphant journey commenced with the successful launch aboard the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle PSLV-C57. This watershed event took place yesterday, culminating in the spacecraft’s entry into a trajectory that will ultimately lead it to the distant Lagrange point L1.

The scientific community and space enthusiasts alike eagerly await this historic mission’s unfolding chapters. As ISRO continues to pave the way for India’s ascent in the realm of space exploration, the Aditya L1 mission stands as a beacon of technological prowess and a testament to the indomitable spirit of scientific exploration.
