Bokaro: In a remarkable feat, Vijay Marandi, a budding talent from the SAIL Football Academy under the patronage of BSL (Bokaro Steel Plant), has earned a coveted spot as a defender in the Indian Under-19 football team.
This significant achievement coincides with the commencement of the Under-19 Championship, scheduled to kick off on September 21, 2023.
Hailing from the quaint village of Bada Simra in Lalmatia, Godda, Vijay’s passion for football ignited during his formative years. His dedication and innate talent led him to join the SAIL Football Academy’s training program in 2021, where he had the opportunity to refine his skills and ultimately secure his place in the Indian Under-19 national team.
The forthcoming South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship, scheduled to run from September 21st to September 30th, will unfold at the prestigious Dashrath Stadium in Kathmandu.
This tournament features the participation of six teams, including the host nation Nepal, India, Maldives, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Pakistan. It’s worth noting that India clinched the SAFF Under-20 Championship title in 2022, triumphing over Bangladesh with a 5-2 scoreline in Bhubaneswar.
The SAIL Football Academy, administered by BSL, has consistently acted as a nurturing ground for promising talents from not only Jharkhand but across the nation. Here, budding players receive expert coaching and access to essential facilities to foster their growth.
Vijay joins the ranks of distinguished alumni such as Prayag Sundar Gogoi (North East Football Club), Praveen Das (Kerala Blasters Football Club), Avishek Halder (Mohammedan Sporting Football Club), and Ashiq Korian, who has earned a place in the senior Indian national team.
The leadership team at Bokaro Steel Plant extends their heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Vijay, recognizing the pride he brings to the entire region through his remarkable achievement.
