ANS: M Srikanth, the Mission Director of Chandrayaan-3 at the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), visited IIT-ISM, Dhanbad today to participate in Concetto’23, the annual techno-management fest of the institute. During his address at the event, he shared insights into the relentless work that went into the Chandrayaan-3 mission’s success and its inspiring mantra.
Srikanth revealed the tremendous dedication of the ISRO team, saying, “We at the Indian Space Research Organization worked day and night continuously for four years as part of a team, often sacrificing time with our families in pursuit of the mission. When we ultimately succeeded, we immediately began looking forward to the next mission.”
He also commended the students and faculty members of IIT-ISM, acknowledging the presence of many students from premier technological institutes, including the IITs, within ISRO. Srikanth expressed optimism that more students from these institutes would join ISRO in the future.
When asked about the source of inspiration for the mission during a media interaction after his guest talk at Penman Auditorium, Srikanth credited the leadership within government organizations. He emphasized that when management entrusts a task with trust, it motivates the team to put forth their utmost efforts to complete it on time.
Professor JK Pattanayak, Director of IIT-ISM, shared his appreciation for Srikanth’s inspirational speech and expressed the institute’s collective sentiment, stating, “The students of the campus really enjoyed the inspirational speech of M Srikanth, and we can’t express the feeling at the institute in words.” He added that Srikanth’s message of relentless teamwork until success is achieved had left a profound impact on the audience.
Professor Dheeraj Kumar, Deputy Director of IIT-ISM, highlighted the unique significance of Srikanth’s visit, noting, “For the first time, we have invited a scientist of the stature of M Srikanth as a guest, which speaks volumes about his popularity. It proves that he has turned out to be more than a celebrity for the youth of the country.”
Meanwhile, Concetto’23 showcased the technical acumen and innovative thinking of over 4,000 participants from more than 100 technical institutes. They competed in a wide range of technical events, including cosmolligence, trailblaize, sky is the limit, sailing in simulation, survival of chemist, electrodesign battle, bear the load, astromaze, mathbee, and robo war, held at various venues within IIT-ISM.
In another prominent event of the day, Sandipan Chattopadhyay, the founder and CEO of Xelpmoc Design & Tech, delivered a lecture at the Golden Jubilee Lecture Theatre. His talk underscored the significance of data-driven business models and drew a large and enthusiastic crowd of students eager to gain insights from his expertise.
