Bokaro: A highly anticipated web series titled “Kaand” is set to captivate audiences as it delves into the haunting and harrowing rape case of Monica, an incident that sent shockwaves through the Bokaro community back in 1999.
Scheduled for release on the popular digital platform Zee-5, the series promises to offer a gripping narrative that not only recounts the events but also explores the lasting societal impact of the case.
Arvind Vilash Swami, a native of Bokaro and a rising creative force, will be at the helm of this ambitious project. Following the tremendous success of his Bhojpuri movie, “Kabhi Chhote Na Bandhan Pyar Ke,” which was deeply rooted in his hometown and received widespread acclaim, Swami has decided to embark on a new creative journey that promises to push boundaries.
The announcement of “Kaand” has ignited significant interest and anticipation among viewers, as Swami is known for his thought-provoking and provocative storytelling. This upcoming series marks a departure from his previous work and showcases his versatility as a filmmaker.
“Kaand” is not just a retelling of a tragic event; it aims to shed light on the enduring impact it has had on the collective memory of the local community. As the project moves forward, more details regarding the series’ production and release will be unveiled.
The Muhurat (inaugural ceremony) for “Kaand” took place on Monday at a hotel in Chas, and it was attended by prominent personalities like Vishwajeet Kumar, Basant Kumar, and Raman Chaudhary.
Swami, the writer and director of “Kaand,” spoke to the media during the event and disclosed that filming for the series is set to commence on December 15 in Bokaro.
The web series boasts a star-studded cast, featuring renowned Mumbai actors such as Saurabh Shukla, Sanjay Mishra, Tamanna Jaiswal, Tripurari Yadav, and Paritosh Kumar, alongside local talents from Bokaro, including Vishwajeet Kumar, Ramjash, Aditya, Falguni, Pinky, Riya, and Niranjan. The casting net is still open, and auditions for additional actors from Bokaro are scheduled for Sunday, December 3, at 10 a.m. in Vanquette Hall, located in City Centre, Sector 4. Aspiring artists are encouraged to audition, and there will be no associated costs.
Arvind also revealed key members of the production team, with Ashujeet serving as the assistant director for the online series, Sanjeev Kumar Jha as the manager, and Kailash Sharma as the deputy manager, ensuring that “Kaand” is poised to be a noteworthy addition to the world of web series.
We anticipate that “Kaand” will weave a compelling narrative and shed light on Monica’s harrowing experience, a tale that has had a lasting impact on both the history and the people of Bokaro.
