Dhanbad: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar urged students of IIT-ISM to make a machine that can count notes without stopping. He was addressing the convocation ceremony of IIT ISM, Dhanbad, in Jharkhand on Sunday.

Vice President presided over the event held in the main hall of IIT ISM, with esteemed guests, including Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan, Minister Banna Gupta, and officials from the Board of Governance and the Institute’s Director in attendance.

The ceremony witnessed the conferment of medals and degrees to 39 gold medalist students. During his address, the Vice President made a special request to the students to create a machine that could count notes ceaselessly and swiftly without succumbing to fatigue or damage.

He emphasized the need for such a machine in the future to facilitate the seamless counting of large sums of money.

In his inspirational speech, Vice President Dhankhar reminded the students that their degrees from IIT ISM Dhanbad symbolize not only their academic achievements but also their dedication, perseverance, and capabilities. He stressed the importance of contributing to the country’s progress and called it their responsibility to ensure the nation’s development.

The convocation ceremony was held in four sessions, with a total of 1249 students receiving degrees. The graduating students, clad in traditional Indian attire, gathered on stage to receive their honours. Among the 1919 students from the 2023 batch, 1249 participated in the convocation.

During the event, a total of 39 students were presented with medals, including the President’s Gold Medal, 15 Silver Medals, 19 Sponsor Medals, and 9 Best Thesis Awards. The degrees conferred encompassed various disciplines, including 311 Master of Technology, 806 Bachelor of Technology, 20 dual B.Tech and M.Tech degrees, 69 MBA degrees, 145 Master of Science degrees, 95 Master of Science and Technology degrees, and 66 Integrated Master of Technology degrees.
