ANS: ITK India and ITK, Leipzig University, Germany have come together to organize an International Coaching Course focusing on gender equality in sports. Dr. Umakant Singh, ITK Ambassador in India, revealed that this one-week event will be held in two phases, with the first session taking place in Madhya Pradesh in February and the second in May at Bokaro Steel City in Jharkhand this year.
Supported by the German Government and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), this collaborative initiative aims to address the crucial issue of gender equality in the realm of sports.
Dr. Umakant Singh emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating, “With ITK India headquartered in Bokaro Steel City, this collaboration marks a significant milestone in advancing discussions and initiatives related to gender equality in the world of sports.”
The groundwork for this event was laid with a five-day session recently organized in Panjim in November 2023. Hosted at the Don Bosco College campus in Panjim, India, this event served as a precursor to the upcoming International Coaching Course. It provided a platform for constructive dialogue, the exchange of insights, and the expansion of knowledge concerning promoting gender equity in sports coaching.
What sets this initiative apart is the diverse array of perspectives and experiences it brings together. Thirty international delegates from various parts of the world participated in the event, with approximately 20 participants hailing from different regions in Asia and another 10 from various parts of India.
