ANS: Ambuja Cements, a key player in India’s cement industry and part of the Adani Group, has announced plans to invest Rs 1,000 crore in establishing a modern cement grinding unit in Matia Village, Godda district, Jharkhand, subject to necessary approvals.
The unit is designed to have a capacity of 4.0 MTPA.
This initiative is strategically located near Adani Power (Jharkhand) Limited, reflecting Ambuja Cements’ commitment to environmentally responsible practices by aiding in the safe disposal of fly ash and promoting a circular economy.
The project is expected to create direct and indirect job opportunities for over 2,500 individuals, contributing significantly to the state’s economic and social progress. Notably, Ambuja Cements already operates two cement plants in Jharkhand with a combined capacity of 6 MTPA.
The proposed expansion underscores the company’s confidence in the region’s growth potential.
Ajay Kapur, CEO of the Cement Business, expressed optimism about the project, stating, “With our proposed investment in this new cement grinding unit, we intend to achieve a significant milestone in our commitment to expanding our presence and contributing to the socio-economic development of the region. We believe that Jharkhand holds immense potential in terms of resources, infrastructure, and skilled manpower, making it an ideal location for this project.”
