ANS: In a significant political development, Kalpana Soren, the wife of the imprisoned former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren, made her entry into politics during the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha’s (JMM) foundation day celebration in Giridih on Monday.
Emphasising her commitment to the welfare of the people of Jharkhand, Kalpana pledged to uphold and propagate the ideals of her husband, Hemant Soren, until his return.
Kalpana Soren, who holds an MTech and an MBA, has an impressive educational background, with her early education in Baripada, Odisha, and higher studies in engineering and business administration from universities in Bhubaneshwar.
Addressing the public in Giridih, she expressed her concerns about the circumstances leading to her husband’s imprisonment, questioning the legitimacy of the charges against him.
She highlighted Hemant Soren’s contributions and questioned if demanding funds from the Centre, providing reservations to OBCs, preserving Jharkhand’s cultural heritage, advocating for the Sarna Dharma Code, or waiving farmers’ loans were crimes.
Kalpana Soren criticised the opposition’s attitude, accusing them of being indifferent to the welfare of the state’s citizens. She asserted that the imprisonment of Hemant Soren was not just an attack on him but an insult to the dignity of the people of Jharkhand, particularly the tribal community. She vowed that there would be a fitting response to this injustice.
