Ranchi: Aiming to enhance the social and economic well-being of widowed women of the state, the Jharkhand government is all set to launch, “State Widow Remarriage Promotion Scheme.” Under this scheme, widows who remarry will receive Rs 2 lakh from the government.

Chief Minister Champai Soren will formally launch the scheme on March 6, with the benefits being given to seven widowed women at Tana Bhagat Stadium in Khelgaon, Ranchi.

“This scheme will be started on Wednesday (6 March) by giving benefits of this scheme to seven widowed women of the state at Tana Bhagat Stadium in Khelgaon, Ranchi,” tweeted CM Champai Soren on X.

Manoj Kumar, the Secretary of the Women and Children, and Social Welfare Department, highlighted the challenges faced by widows and emphasised the scheme’s role in improving their lives.

By taking advantage of this scheme, widowed women in the state can improve their social and economic lives. The government hopes that by providing financial support, it can encourage widows to consider remarriage and start a new chapter in their lives, he said.
