ANS: Kalpana Soren, the wife of imprisoned former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, visited Sunita Kejriwal, the wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, at their residence in the national capital on Saturday.
Arvind Kejriwal is currently in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate until April 1, following his arrest in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case.
Kalpana Soren’s visit to the Delhi Chief Minister’s residence was a gesture of support and solidarity with Sunita Kejriwal during this challenging time.
Hemant Soren, the working president of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), was also arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in February on suspicions of a land scam. Recently, the special PMLA court extended his judicial custody until April 4th.
Similarly, the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi has extended Arvind Kejriwal’s ED remand until April 1.
During his court appearance on March 28, the Delhi Chief Minister accused the Enforcement Directorate of trying to “crush” the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He also alleged that the federal investigation agency’s primary objective was to ‘trap’ him in the now-defunct liquor policy case.
“I do not oppose the ED’s remand petition. The ED can keep me in jail for as many days as it wants. But this is a scam,” Kejriwal was quoted as saying in the media. “The ED had two objectives. The first is to demolish the AAP, and the second is to create a smokescreen and conduct an extortion racket behind it to collect money,” he added.
Despite being labeled as the “kingpin of the liquor policy scam” by the Enforcement Directorate, Kejriwal maintained that there were no grounds for his detention.
