Bokaro: Sunil Kumar, a senior art faculty member at DPS Bokaro, has brought laurels to his institution and the state of Jharkhand by winning the prestigious M. F. Husain Award. Kumar is the only recipient from Jharkhand to receive this national award.
He was recognized for his striking psychedelic painting, which stood out at the Indian Art Contest held in January 2024. The contest was organized by Mahart Contest, a Skill Development Drawing Literacy Mission registered under MSME, Government of India.
As part of the award, Sunil Kumar will receive a cash prize of Rs. 7000 and a monthly scholarship of Rs. 25,700 for the next twelve months, in recognition of his hard work, dedication, and artistic achievement.
Sunil’s artistic journey, marked by colorful abstract paintings depicting social human behavior, has garnered him numerous state and national awards for his creative masterpieces.
This prestigious award is a testament to his exceptional talent and unwavering commitment to the art of painting, serving as an inspiration to many young budding artists who aspire to follow in his footsteps and pursue careers in reputed institutions like NIFT, NID, UCEED and others.
Expressing his gratitude, Sunil Kumar thanked DPS Bokaro and its Principal for providing him with a conducive atmosphere and a platform to explore and experiment with his paints, brushes, and colors, enabling him to achieve new heights of success.
