Hyderabad: Founder of the Eenadu Group and prominent media figure, Ch Ramoji Rao, passed away this morning in Hyderabad at the age of 87. Rao had been admitted to a private hospital in Nanakramguda on the 5th of this month due to health issues and succumbed to his illness early today.

The revered entrepreneur had been battling chronic illness and health complications for some time. Preparations are underway to move his mortal remains to his residence in Ramoji Film City, where family, friends, and well-wishers will pay their last respects.

Ramoji Rao was well-known for managing numerous businesses, including the Eenadu Group, Ramoji Film City, Margadarsi Chit Funds, and Priya Foods. Under his leadership, Eenadu became a major media force in Telugu-speaking areas and a significant political influencer.

President Droupadi Murmu expressed her grief over the passing of Ramoji Rao. In a social media post, she stated that with Rao’s demise, India has lost a titan of the media and entertainment sector. She highlighted his pioneering ventures, such as the Eenadu newspaper, ETV news network, and Ramoji Film City.

Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi also expressed his sorrow, describing Rao as a visionary who revolutionized Indian media. Modi remarked that Rao’s rich contributions have left an indelible mark on journalism and the world of films, setting new standards for innovation and excellence in the media and entertainment industry.
