Jamshedpur: The valedictory ceremony of the 14th edition of “Behind The Teacher’s Desk” (BTTD-2024), a three-day seminar focusing on metallurgical engineering, concluded today at the CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML) Auditorium. Organized jointly by The Indian Institute of Metals (IIM) in collaboration with CSIR-NML, Tata Steel Limited, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur, and Academy of Scientific & Innovative Research (AcSIR), the seminar has been a longstanding initiative aimed at fostering academic exchange and innovation in the field.

Since its inception 14 years ago, the seminar has consistently drawn participation from over 100 students and experts from various engineering colleges across India.

This year saw the presentation of 57 technical papers across three parallel sessions, covering diverse aspects of metallurgy and materials sciences. In addition to the academic sessions, a vibrant cultural program provided attendees with an opportunity for relaxation and interaction.

Dr. Gopi Kishor Mandal, Secretary of IIM Jamshedpur, led a productive feedback session where participants shared valuable suggestions for future editions. Dr. Sandip Ghosh Chowdhury, Director of CSIR-NML, and Professor Ashok Kumar, Chairman of IIM Jamshedpur Chapter, commended the participants for their contributions and emphasized the significance of interdisciplinary collaboration among students and faculty.

Expressing gratitude, Dr. Premkumar, Co-convenor of BTTD-2024, extended heartfelt thanks to all participants and organizers for their dedication in making the event a resounding success.

He announced that industrial tours to Tata Steel Ltd. and Tata Steel Long Product are scheduled for June 21, 2024, providing participants with practical insights into industrial applications.

The winners of the technical sessions were honored with prestigious awards, marking the culmination of yet another enriching chapter of academic discourse and professional networking at BTTD-2024.
