Gangtok: In a remarkable engineering feat, Army engineers constructed a 70-foot Bailey Bridge on the Dikchu-Sanklang road in Sikkim within 72 hours, restoring connectivity that was severed due to recent floods. The construction was undertaken by the Trishakti Corps Army Engineers, commencing on June 23, according to the PRO Defence Guwahati.
The swift construction was praised, with PRO Defence acknowledging the efforts of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and the local administration in restoring the crucial link.
The newly constructed bridge at Dett Khola on the Dikchu-Sanklang road is vital for enabling vehicular traffic from Dikchu to Sanklang towards Chungthang. This development is expected to significantly aid in the conveyance of essential supplies and critical healthcare services to the affected people of Mangan district, as stated by the PRO Defence.
“The bridge is an important link to enable vehicular traffic from Dikchu to Sanklang towards Chungthang. The bridge will assist in providing basic necessities including critical medical aid for the affected people of Mangan district,” reported the PRO Defence via ANI.
