Jamshedpur: The Indian Institute of Metals (IIM), Jamshedpur Chapter organized a felicitation program to honor the achievers of the IIM ATM and NMA 2023 awards. The event took place at Beldih Club, Jamshedpur, starting from 6:30 pm onwards. Prior to the felicitation, the Chapter held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the same venue.
Professor Ashok Kumar from the MME Department, NIT Jamshedpur, and Chairperson of IIM Jamshedpur Chapter, delivered the welcome address. The ceremony commenced with the felicitation of the awardees, who were recognized for their outstanding contributions: V. V. Mahashabde, Chief R&D and Product Technology, Tata Steel Ltd. – IIM Fellow Membership; Dr. T. Bhaskar, Chief Technology Officer, Tata Steel Ltd. – IIM Essar Gold Medal 2023; Prem Kumar Ganesh, Head, Venture, Tata Steel Ltd. – IIM Certificate of Honor; Dr. Sushil Kumar Giri, Tata Steel Ltd. – Poster Presentation Award; Ravi Golani, Tata Steel Ltd. – Poster Presentation Award; Nemai Gorain, Tata Steel Ltd. – Oral Presentation Award; Dr. Sanjay Agarwal, CSIR-NML – Oral Presentation Award; Dr. Ammasi A. and Dr. Prem Kumar M., CSIR-NML – M S Khan Memorial Award
Dr. A. N. Bhagat, Head, Surface Engineering, Tata Steel, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour and delivered a brief speech. He was presented with a memento in appreciation of his presence.
The event also featured the prestigious M.S. Khan Memorial Lecture, dedicated to the late M.S. Khan, a former Honorary Secretary of IIM Jamshedpur Chapter.
Professor Goutam Sutradhar, Director of NIT Jamshedpur, delivered the lecture on Mg-WC Metal Matrix Nano-Composites, covering various aspects such as methodology, alloy selection, fabrication techniques, and the role of graphite nano-particles in these composites.
Dr. Sandip Ghosh Chowdhury, Director of CSIR-NML, and other esteemed metallurgical experts from CSIR-NML, Tata Steel, and NIT Jamshedpur graced the occasion. The event gathered around 100 professionals from academia, industries, and R&D establishments in and around Jamshedpur.
Dr. Gopi Kishor Mandal, Secretary of IIM Jamshedpur Chapter, concluded the program with a vote of thanks.
