New Delhi: A major cyber attack has rocked Noida as hackers breached the server of Nainital Bank, resulting in the unauthorized transfer of over Rs 16.50 crores to 89 different accounts.
The incident, which has sparked concerns over cybersecurity, unfolded when cyber criminals targeted the Nainital Bank’s server in Noida. The IT department of the bank promptly lodged a complaint, leading to a police investigation into the sophisticated hacking operation.
According to ACP Vivek Ranjan of the Cyber Cell, the manager of Nainital Bank’s Sector-62 branch in Noida reported that unknown perpetrators had illicitly transferred Rs 16.50 crore to various accounts after gaining access to the bank’s server. Law enforcement agencies have mobilized multiple teams to apprehend those responsible for the breach.
“This is a serious breach of cybersecurity, and our teams are working diligently to track down the perpetrators,” stated ACP Vivek Ranjan.
The incident has underscored the vulnerabilities in digital banking systems, prompting heightened security measures to prevent such occurrences in the future. Authorities have registered a case in response to the bank’s complaint, marking a crucial step in addressing the fallout from the cyber attack on Nainital Bank.
