Bokaro: Students of Delhi Public School (DPS) Bokaro, accompanied by Principal Dr. A. S. Gangwar, made history today by celebrating Raksha Bandhan with President of India, Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The event was held at the Cultural Centre of the Presidential residence, where students from various schools across the country gathered for the festive occasion.

The DPS Bokaro delegation, including students Anwesha Sharma, Ananaya Singh, Pritam Sagar, and Adi Ayushman, along with Headmistress Priti Sinha, were part of this select group.

Their visit marked a significant milestone for the school, as it was among the few chosen institutions to participate in this prestigious event. The students presented President Murmu with a painting as a token of their appreciation, which she received warmly. Expressing her delight, President Murmu noted her happiness at seeing DPS Bokaro students travel from Jharkhand for the celebration. She recalled her previous visit to the school on its Foundation Day in 2015.

The event was also attended by Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of State for Education and Minister of State (IC) for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary, Sanjay Kumar, Secretary of the Department of School Education & Literacy (DoSEL), and other Ministry of Education officials.

In her address, President Murmu emphasized that Raksha Bandhan is a festival not only to be celebrated among siblings but also to be shared with soldiers, parents, and friends. She highlighted the festival’s role in spreading peace and love, stressing the importance of uniting through India’s diverse cultural traditions. “Children are the future of the nation and should continue the legacy of spreading love and happiness through these festivals,” she said.

Principal Dr. A. S. Gangwar expressed profound gratitude for the opportunity to participate in such a memorable event. He described the interaction with President Murmu as a lifetime experience for both students and educators, instilling a renewed sense of patriotic zeal and respect for the nation’s cultural heritage. The warmth and simplicity of the President left a lasting impression on everyone present.
