Dhanbad: IIT-ISM Dhanbad has officially inaugurated a six-day Short-Term Program titled “High Efficiency, Low Emissions Clean Coal and Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage Technologies.” The initiative brought together 26 faculty members from various universities, colleges, and higher educational institutions across the country to explore advancements in clean coal and carbon capture technologies.

The program, organized by the Departments of Chemical and Mechanical Engineering under the Malviya Mission Teacher Training Program, aims to provide participants with expert insights into the latest developments in high-efficiency, low-emission clean technology and carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS).

The inauguration was led by Professor Somnath Chattopadhyay, Professor in Charge of the Online Continuing Education Program, who emphasized the program’s objective to fill knowledge gaps and keep participants abreast of recent advancements in the field. He stated, “The primary aim is to disseminate information about recent developments in HELE clean technology and CCUS technologies.”

Professor Mrinalini Pandey, Coordinator of the Malviya Mission Teachers Training Centre, underscored the importance of such courses in enhancing faculty members’ knowledge and skills.

Professor Aditya Kumar, Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering, added that the course is designed to give participants a competitive edge by learning from industry leaders and facilitating idea exchange with experts nationwide, ultimately fostering scientific and technological collaboration.

Course Coordinator Professor A Samanta noted that participants will be equipped to identify current needs and gaps in clean coal and carbon capture technologies, as well as formulate innovative solutions to address major challenges and adapt to evolving trends in the field.
