Deoghar: In celebration of International Older Persons Day, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Deoghar inaugurated its Multispeciality Geriatric Clinic on Tuesday. The event, led by Institute Director Dr. Prof. Saurabh Varshneya, highlighted the critical need for specialized healthcare tailored to the elderly population.
The clinic is a collaborative initiative involving six key departments: Psychiatry, General Medicine, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Obstetrics and Gynecology. This integrated approach aims to enhance healthcare services for individuals aged 60 and above.
Dr. Adesh Kumar Agarwal has been appointed as the nodal officer for the clinic, which will operate on the first and third Thursday of each month from 1 PM to 4 PM. Patients will be seen by prior appointment only.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by a distinguished group of attendees, including Dr. Harminder Singh, Dean of Academics; Amrendra Kumar, Deputy Director of Administration; Dr. Pratima Gupta, Dean of Research; Dr. Rajesh, Deputy Medical Superintendent; and Prof. Dr. C. Vasantha Kalyani, Principal of the College of Nursing, among other notable faculty members.
Dr. Professor Saurabh Varshneya reaffirmed the Institute’s commitment to fostering a supportive environment for the elderly, stating that the clinic is designed to improve the overall well-being of older patients. Under AIIMS Deoghar’s mission of holistic healthcare, the Multispeciality Geriatric Clinic aims to become a vital resource for the elderly, ensuring they receive high-quality care.
