ANS: Today marks the beginning of Navratri, the highly revered nine-day Hindu festival dedicated to the worship of Goddess Durga. Across the country, devotees are flocking to temples, engaging in rituals and chanting mantras with great enthusiasm and devotion.

During Navratri, the nine forms of Goddess Durga are honored, with the first day dedicated to Shailaputri, symbolizing the goddess’s strength and femininity. Each subsequent day will focus on a different aspect of the divine feminine, allowing devotees to deepen their spiritual practices and seek blessings.

Participants will observe fasting and feasting, engaging in various rituals that celebrate the victory of good over evil. The nine forms of Maa Durga include Maa Brahmacharini, Maa Chandraghanta, Maa Kushmanda, Maa Skandamata, Maa Katyayani, Maa Kalaratri, Maa Mahagauri, and Maa Siddhidatri, each representing distinct qualities and strengths.

Navratri is celebrated four times a year, with the most prominent being Shardiya Navratri, which takes place in September or October. Additionally, Gupt Navratri occurs during the Magha and Ashada months, while Chaitra Navratri is typically celebrated in March or April.

As festivities commence, communities are coming together in vibrant displays of devotion, ensuring the spirit of Navratri resonates throughout the nation.
