Lucknow: Congress leader Priyanka Vadra Gandhi has expressed concern over the violence in Bahraich (UP) and appealed to the public not to take the law into their hands.

She stated that the reports of violence and the inaction of the administration in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, are extremely sad and unfortunate.

It is noteworthy that the unrest is escalating following the murder of a youth during a procession for idol immersion in Bahraich. Today, angry crowds have engaged in vandalism and arson in various places. The police administration is making efforts to control the situation. Priyanka Gandhi posted on X, appealing to the Chief Minister and the state administration to take prompt action, gain the public’s trust, and stop the violence. She urged strict action against the culprits and made a heartfelt appeal to the public to please refrain from taking the law into their own hands and to maintain peace.

Meanwhile, Congress National Secretary Satyanarayan Patel commented on the unrest in Bahraich, stating that wherever riots occur, the district administration and government fail. He claimed that the government at both the national and state levels has failed in all matters. He emphasized that the meaning of Raj Dharma is to ensure that our citizens remain free and happy, and that the constitution and laws are followed and enforced. It is the moral responsibility of the government, and in this regard, the government has failed. He criticized the government for instilling fear in the public with threats of bulldozing, asserting that action should be taken within the bounds of law and regulations. He concluded that the state government has proven to be a failure in every matter. Congress is organizing a “Save the Constitution” conference in the Milkipur assembly constituency on October 16, for which the national secretary has come to review preparations.

On the other hand, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya also commented on the situation, stating that any conspiracy to disrupt the peace and harmony of Uttar Pradesh will not succeed. He noted that those providing protection to rioters are becoming active once again, but we must remain vigilant and alert. He assured that there will be no compromise on the bright future of the state. The culprits will be brought to justice under the law, and victims will receive full justice. He appealed to all citizens to maintain peace and patience.
