Dhanbad: A proud moment for the Indian Institute of Technology (ISM) Dhanbad as its Director, Prof. Sukumar Mishra, participated in the prestigious International Forum titled “Mineral Resources as the Basis of National Sovereignty: Human Resources and Innovation Environment” held at the Empress Catherine II Saint Petersburg Mining University, Russia, from October 15-20, 2024.
Organized under the BRICS Chairmanship of the Russian Federation, the forum focused on critical topics including the development of mineral resources, energy sectors, and green energy.
Professor Mishra’s involvement highlights IIT-ISM Dhanbad’s global recognition for its leadership in technical education and research, fostering international cooperation in mineral resources and innovation.
The event featured a hybrid format, allowing both in-person and online participation. Professor Mishra attended in person, engaging in numerous panel discussions and roundtables that addressed the development of mineral resources, fuel and energy sectors, and the advancement of higher education systems to train highly qualified specialists.
The forum was jointly organized by Empress Catherine II Saint Petersburg Mining University, the International Competence Centre for Mining Engineering Education, and the Consortium of Universities Nendra. Professor Mishra’s participation not only underscores the institute’s prominence in the field but also reinforces its commitment to advancing global dialogue on crucial issues in mining and energy.
