Dhanbad: A captivating musical evening dedicated to Indian classical music took place this evening at the Penman Auditorium of IIT-ISM in anticipation of Khanan-2024, the annual techno-mining fest organized by the Department of Mining Engineering in collaboration with the SME IIT-ISM Student Chapter. The event featured performances by The Novel Art Documentation & Development Foundation (the Naad Foundation), a group dedicated to promoting peace and cultural unity through classical music.

The evening began with a mesmerizing performance by Dr. Bipul Kumar Ray, a renowned Santoor exponent, who was accompanied by Pandit Ujawal Roy on tabla. Dr. Bipul, a disciple of the esteemed Santoor Maestro Padmashri Pandit Bhajan Sopori, showcased his exceptional talent, enchanting the audience with his skillful play.

Following this, Dr. Avinash Kumar, one of India’s finest Hindustani classical vocalists, took the stage. He was accompanied by Pandit Durjoy Bhomik on tabla and Shree Suraj Sharma on harmonium, delivering a powerful performance that left the audience in awe.

Khanan-2024 will officially inaugurate tomorrow at the same venue, featuring a variety of events, workshops, and activities designed to provide students with opportunities to enhance their knowledge, skills, and networking in the fields of mining, geology, and related disciplines.
