Srinagar: Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Farooq Abdullah, has strongly criticized Pakistan following a recent surge of terrorist attacks in the region. Abdullah, who leads the ruling National Conference (NC), asserted that Kashmir will never become part of Pakistan.

Addressing the ongoing violence, Abdullah remarked, “These attacks will persist until a viable solution is found. I have witnessed this situation for the last 30 years, and innocent lives continue to be lost. Kashmir will never be a part of Pakistan.”

He emphasized that terrorism is a persistent issue and pointed out that those responsible for the attacks are misguided in their belief that such violence will unify Kashmir with Pakistan. “Kashmir decided to remain with India in 1947. All that Pakistan is achieving is its own destruction, which also impacts us,” he stated.

Drawing parallels with global conflicts, Abdullah warned Pakistan to be prepared for potential consequences. “If these attacks continue, there will come a day when conflict will escalate, leaving nothing behind. If Pakistan desires that, they must be ready for it. They should observe the devastation in Ukraine, Iran, and Palestine. Do they really want to suffer further and become even poorer? They need to halt these attacks,” he cautioned.

Abdullah’s comments come in the wake of two deadly attacks in the region, including an incident that resulted in the deaths of 20 individuals when terrorists targeted army trucks near the popular tourist spot of Gulmarg. Three soldiers were also among those killed in this incident.

His remarks were made shortly after his son, Omar Abdullah, took office as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, following elections held five years after the special status was revoked by the Modi government.
