Bokaro, Jharkhand: In a bold statement following his nomination filing, Biranchi Narayan, the BJP MLA and NDA candidate for the Bokaro assembly constituency, asserted that even Congress leader Rahul Gandhi would struggle to defeat him in the upcoming elections. “If Rahul Gandhi contests against me, he won’t just lose the election; he may also lose his security deposit,” Narayan declared.

Speaking to reporters, Narayan emphasized his commitment to the constituency, claiming to have delivered on promises related to a medical college, hospital, engineering college, electricity, and road development. “The public stands with me for development,” he said, highlighting the support he has garnered from party workers and constituents.

Narayan, who is seeking re-election for a third consecutive term, criticized the Congress party for its indecisiveness, noting that they have yet to finalize their candidates in an attempt to strategize against the BJP.

In the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly Elections, Narayan secured victory with a narrow margin of 13,313 votes, obtaining 1,12,333 votes and a vote share of 41.42%. He defeated Congress candidate Shweta Singh, who received 99,020 votes, while AJSUP candidate Rajendra Mahato trailed in third place with 14,517 votes.

Previously, in the 2014 elections, Narayan won with a substantial margin, receiving 1,14,321 votes and a vote share of 43.38%, defeating independent candidate Samaresh Singh by 72,643 votes. As the election campaign heats up, all eyes will be on Narayan and his efforts to maintain his seat in the assembly.
