ANS: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is conducting raids at 15 locations associated with IAS officer Vinay Chaubey and Joint Excise Commissioner Gajendra Singh as part of an ongoing liquor scam investigation in Chhattisgarh. These operations are taking place in Ranchi and Raipur, confirmed a senior ED official.
The Chhattisgarh Anti-Corruption Bureau and Economic Offences Wing (EOW) have filed an FIR against seven individuals, including Chaubey, for allegedly causing significant losses to the state and tampering with liquor policy.
The ED’s actions come after the Supreme Court dismissed Singh’s petition to dismiss the FIR. Vinay Chaubey, a 1999 batch IAS officer, previously held key positions in Jharkhand, including secretary to Chief Minister Hemant Soren, before being reassigned after Soren’s resignation linked to a land scam.
Both officials have already been questioned by the ED regarding their roles in the scam. Chaubey is the sixth IAS officer from Jharkhand under investigation by the ED, joining the ranks of Pooja Singhal, Chhavi Ranjan, Manish Ranjan, and Ram Niwas Yadav.
