Bokaro: Aimed at promoting financial literacy, business acumen, entrepreneurship, and commerce education among students, Delhi Public School (DPS) Bokaro organized its much-awaited Inter-School Quiz Competition – COMQUIZ 2024.
The event, held on Saturday at the school premises, saw enthusiastic participation from 20 schools across the Bokaro district, with teams competing to showcase their knowledge of commerce and economics.
The event, which was attended by esteemed guests and dignitaries, was graced by Sujay Kumar, Chief General Manager (Finance & Accounts) at Bokaro Steel Limited (BSL), as the Chief Guest. Principals from various schools and other notable figures were also present to witness the competition.
The quiz kicked off in the Ashwaghosh Kala Kshetra with a ceremonial lamp lighting, followed by a soulful rendition of the welcome song and the school anthem. The competition was structured in two phases. The first phase involved a 30-minute written preliminary round, after which the qualifying teams advanced to the second phase.
The questions covered a wide range of topics including companies, banking, stock markets, government budgets, GST, insurance, demonetization, GDP, income tax, and mercantile law. The competition reached an exciting climax with a rapid-fire round that dramatically shifted the standings.
The team from MGM Higher Secondary School emerged as the winners with a score of 115 points, followed closely by Holy Cross School with 105 points. DPS Bokaro secured the second runners-up position with 90 points.
During the prize distribution, Sujay Kumar presented trophies and certificates to the winning teams. He encouraged teachers to play an active role in helping students realize their potential and urged the students to pursue their passions with dedication, patience, and a constant eagerness to learn. “Make every day a learning experience,” he advised, emphasizing the importance of lifelong learning.
DPS Bokaro’s Principal, Dr. A.S. Gangwar, praised the event for highlighting the importance of financial literacy and commerce education. He stressed that such competitions are vital for shaping the economic understanding of young students and preparing them for future success. “The focus should be on the learning experience, not just the results,” he added.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Head Boy Kanhaiya Bhardwaj, following the welcome address delivered by Head Girl Ananya Raj. The competition served as a valuable platform for students to test their knowledge, while fostering a spirit of healthy competition and learning.
