Washington D.C. : Donald Trump is set to be sworn in today as the 47th President of the United States. Ahead of the inauguration, India’s prominent business figures Mukesh and Nita Ambani met with the President-elect in Washington, D.C.

Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, and Nita Ambani, Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, attended a private reception celebrating the upcoming inauguration. The reception also saw the presence of several global business leaders, including Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

In a post on Instagram, the Reliance Foundation extended their congratulations to President-elect Trump, stating, “At the Private Reception in Washington, Nita and Mukesh Ambani extended their congratulations to President-Elect Donald Trump ahead of his inauguration. With a shared optimism for deeper India-US relations, they wished him a transformative term of leadership, paving the way for unprecedented progress and collaboration for the two nations and the world.”

The Ambanis are expected to occupy prominent seats at the inauguration ceremony later today, which will take place indoors due to Washington’s cold weather. The event will begin with a traditional service at a church, followed by a White House tea and the official swearing-in at the U.S. Capitol.

India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, will also attend the inauguration, representing India as Trump embarks on his second term in office.
