New Delhi: India has been removed from Forbes’ list of the top 10 most powerful countries for 2025. The recent list does not include India among the leading nations; the exclusion has sparked widespread debate and curiosity about the methodology behind the rankings.

The latest Forbes ranking of the world’s most powerful nations for 2025 does not feature India, a country with the fourth-largest military, the fifth-largest economy, and a massive population. The omission has raised questions among experts and the public regarding how the rankings were determined.

Compiled in collaboration with US News, the Forbes ranking considers factors such as leadership, economic influence, political power, strong international alliances, and military strength. Despite India’s growing global influence, it was notably absent from the top 10, prompting discussions about the accuracy and criteria of the list.

The list includes countries such as the United States, China, and Russia in the top spots, alongside nations like South Korea, France, and Israel. This has led many to question how India’s significant geopolitical and economic contributions were overlooked.

The methodology and research for the rankings were conducted by BAV Group, a unit of WPP, and led by Professor David Reibstein from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. As countries like the US, China, and Russia continue to dominate the top rankings, India’s exclusion has left analysts wondering whether the rankings truly reflect a nation’s influence in the contemporary world.

Notably, analysts and citizens alike continue to debate the rankings, questioning whether they truly capture the scope of a nation’s influence in today’s world.
