Bokaro: Vedanta and ESL CSR marked Leprosy Prevention Day at the Nirmal Gram Hospital Campus, reaffirming their commitment to public health and social inclusion under the Aarogya Project.

Despite medical advancements, leprosy continues to impact marginalized communities, often worsened by social stigma and lack of awareness.

As part of the initiative, the team facilitated healthcare services and awareness campaigns, providing screenings for 50 leprosy patients through a Mobile Health Van. Patients received essential medicines, nutrition kits, and hygiene supplies, promoting overall well-being and self-care. Educational sessions were held to inform patients and caregivers about prevention, symptoms, treatment options, and available government welfare schemes.

Speaking on the occasion, Basant Kumar, in charge of the Leprosy Hospital, and Anthony, Coordinator, shared insights on leprosy management and combating societal stigma.

The event focused on the importance of early detection, treatment, and the social integration of leprosy-affected individuals to reduce discrimination and foster inclusivity. ESL’s commitment to the Aarogya Project aims to break the stigma surrounding leprosy and improve the quality of life for affected individuals.

Kunal Daripa, Head CSR at ESL, emphasized, “Leprosy remains a significant challenge in India. Through the Aarogya Project, we are dedicated to providing medical intervention and promoting social empowerment, ensuring acceptance and care for those affected.”
