Prayagraj: President Droupadi Murmu participated in the revered rituals of the Maha Kumbh Mela, marking the occasion with a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam, on Monday where the Ganges, Yamuna, and the mythical Sarasvati rivers converge in Prayagraj.

During her visit, President Murmu took part in several spiritual practices. She first performed a ritual bath at the Sangam, followed by prayers and worship at both the Akshayvat and Hanuman Mandir. She also explored the Digital Kumbh Anubhav Centre.

Before her dip in the sacred waters, President Murmu offered flowers and coconut at the Sangam and performed the ‘Arghya’ ritual to honour Lord Surya. She then took multiple dips in the holy rivers, offering prayers for the nation’s peace and prosperity. Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandi Ben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath accompanied her for the significant event.

In keeping with tradition, President Murmu, along with her family, conducted a formal Puja Archana before entering the waters. She touched the river reverently, offered a flower garland and coconut, and sought blessings. Afterward, she made offerings to Lord Surya with the ‘Arghya’ ritual and took several dips in the confluence.

Following the bath, the President participated in a full traditional Puja at the Sangam, which included ‘Dughdhabhishek,’ while Vedic hymns were chanted. She offered Akshat, Naivedya, flowers, fruits, and a red chunri as part of her prayers. The ceremony concluded with Aarti for the three sacred rivers, and a Tirtha Purohit tied a Kalawa on her wrist, symbolizing her spiritual connection.

Upon her arrival in Prayagraj, President Murmu was warmly welcomed by Governor Anandi Ben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. She then proceeded to Arail Ghat, where she boarded a cruise that took her to the sacred Triveni Sangam.
