Prayagraj: In a grand display of faith, over 2 crore devotees took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj on the auspicious occasion of Magh Purnima as part of the ongoing Mahakumbh 2025. The day marks a significant religious event, as bathing in the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati is believed to cleanse sins and bring spiritual blessings.

The occasion also marked the conclusion of the Kalpavas ritual, with over 10 lakh Kalpavasis having participated in this year’s festival. By 6 pm on Magh Purnima, around 48 crore 25 lakh devotees had taken part in the holy dip since the start of the Mahakumbh.

Devotees, saints, and Kalpavasis gathered in large numbers for the ritual, with flower petals showered upon them at the Sangam. Senior BJP leader and MP Jagdambika Pal visited the Mahakumbh, expressing that the joy and spiritual significance of the event could only be truly understood by experiencing it firsthand.

Notable personalities such as former Indian Test cricket captain Anil Kumble and film actor Sunil Shetty also took the holy dip. Shetty praised the event’s arrangements, calling it the most important moment of his life. Former Norwegian Minister for Climate and Environment, Erik Solheim, who also visited the Mahakumbh, remarked that it was not only the largest spiritual gathering in the world but also the biggest human congregation in history.

To manage the massive crowds, separate entry and exit pathways were implemented, and the security was closely monitored with drones, helicopters, and CCTV cameras to ensure the safety of the devotees. Many devotees shared their experiences with Akashvani News, highlighting the seamless arrangements that made the event a smooth and fulfilling experience.
