New Delhi: In a significant boost to India’s indigenous defence capabilities, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully conducted release trials of its homegrown long-range glide bomb ‘Gaurav’ from a Su-30 MKI fighter aircraft.

According to the Ministry of Defence, the test showcased the bomb’s ability to strike targets with precision at a range of nearly 100 kilometres. The 1000-kilogram class glide bomb was developed by DRDO’s Research Centre Imarat (RCI) in collaboration with the Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE) and the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur, Odisha.

The trials were witnessed and reviewed by senior officials from DRDO and the Indian Air Force. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh lauded the success of the trials, praising DRDO, the IAF, and the associated industry partners. He stated that the Gaurav bomb will significantly enhance the strike capabilities of the Indian Armed Forces.

DRDO Chairman Dr. Samir V. Kamat also commended the scientists and engineers involved in the development, calling the successful test a major milestone in India’s drive for self-reliance in defence technology.
