Dr. Jaideep Sarkar, the Indian representative of the International Olympic Committee and the chief trainer of the Indian volleyball team, has been honored with the prestigious “Sardar Patel Award” by the Government of Gujarat.
The award ceremony was conducted during the commemoration of “Punjab Day” and “Vibrant Gujarat,” jointly organized by the Government of Gujarat and the NRI community (Apravaasee Bhaarateey Samudaay). The event also saw the recognition of accomplished individuals from various domains, including international dignitaries from the United Kingdom, Uganda, Australia, and the United States.
Jaideep Sarkar, who is also associated with Bokaro Steel Limited in Jharkhand as a volleyball coach, received this accolade in recognition of his remarkable contributions to social upliftment and the Olympic movement through Olympic education and the promotion of sports culture.
This is not the first time that Jaideep has been recognized for his outstanding efforts in the fields of sports and social harmony. In 2022, he was honored with the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Award for his role in fostering social harmony through sports culture.
Additionally, in 2023, he was bestowed with an Honorary Doctorate Degree by the United Nations Commission, further acknowledging his exceptional dedication to the Olympic cause. Moreover, in 2024, Jaideep received the prestigious Guru Dronacharya Award from the Jharkhand State.
Jaideep’s relentless commitment to the promotion of sports, social harmony, and Olympic values has garnered him respect and recognition both nationally and internationally, making him a source of pride for India.
