Gaya: Jitan Ram Manjhi and Kumar Sarvjeet, representing NDA and RJD respectively, filed their nominations for the Gaya Lok Sabha seat on Thursday, setting the stage for a closely watched electoral battle.
Manjhi, the founder of Secular (HAM-S), submitted his nomination papers at the district magistrate’s office in Gaya, expressing his determination to win the elections. “Everyone contests elections for victory. I have been in politics for the past 44 years, and I still have some more time left in my political career,” Manjhi remarked, highlighting his long-standing commitment to public service.
He emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently shown him respect, even during his tenure with the Mahagathbandhan.
His opponent, Kumar Sarvjeet of the RJD, also filed his nomination on the same day, adding to the electoral fervor in the region. The Gaya constituency is one of several key battlegrounds in Bihar, with voting for the first phase of elections scheduled for April 19.
Meanwhile, in other constituencies, political activities are also gaining momentum. In Nawada, RJD candidate Shrawan Kushwaha filed his nomination, aiming to challenge BJP’s Dr. Vivek Thakur. In Aurangabad, former JDU district president Abhay Kushwaha, now an RJD candidate, filed his nomination, setting the stage for a contest against BJP MP Sushil Kumar Singh, who is seeking re-election for the fourth consecutive term.
In Jamui, Arun Bharti, the LJP (Ram Vilas) candidate and brother-in-law of Chirag Paswan, submitted his nomination. The seat is witnessing an intriguing battle, with the RJD nominating Archana Ravidas, adding to the competitive dynamics of the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
