Bokaro: ESL Steel Limited, a prominent steel producer in India and part of the Vedanta Group, has been recognized for its commitment to excellence, innovation, and environmental stewardship. The company was awarded the Gold Award at the 5th CII National EHS Circle Competition, organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), which received 59 entries across 7 categories from organizations nationwide.
The winning project, “Improving Safety with AI-enhanced Camera Detection,” was recognized under the category of “Best Organisation adopting exemplary Safety Practices.”
The project focused on using AI-enabled advanced camera detection to proactively identify and mitigate safety risks, enhancing the safety of ESL employees. The team behind this project, comprising Safety and Digital personnel led by Samir Das, delivered a compelling presentation that impressed the jury and showcased ESL Steel Limited’s commitment to excellence and innovation in Environment, Health & Safety.

Located in Siyaljori village, Bokaro district, Jharkhand, ESL Steel Limited operates a 2.5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) greenfield integrated steel plant.
