Kanniyakumari: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Kanniyakumari for a meditation retreat at the historic Vivekananda Rock Memorial. He is expected to remain there until Saturday evening.
Currently, the Prime Minister is meditating at the Dhyan Mandapam, the same location where the revered Hindu philosopher and saint Swami Vivekananda meditated in 1892 to envision India’s future. This site is also significant as it is the meeting point of the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal, and the Indian Ocean. Leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) suggest that Modi’s choice of Kanniyakumari emphasizes a message of national unity.
Modi’s meditation at Vivekananda Rock echoes his 2019 pilgrimage to the Kedarnath shrine in Uttarakhand, where he undertook a fifteen-hour solo meditation session in a sacred cave at the end of the election campaign.
Security in the region is tight, with over two thousand police officers deployed during the Prime Minister’s stay. The Indian Coast Guard and the Indian Navy are also on high alert, ensuring the safety of the Prime Minister until his departure on June 1st.
