Lucknow/ Bareilly: In a significant development, police in Bareilly have intensified their efforts to investigate alleged “love jihad” activities following the apprehension of two young men who were reportedly using Hindu identities to entrap girls. This incident occurred in the Izzatnagar police station area, where local Hindu organizations claimed to have caught the youths before handing them over to law enforcement.
The arrested individuals, identified as Naushad Jamali and Aman, were initially presenting themselves as Rahul and Vicky, respectively. Upon interrogation, authorities discovered that both possessed multiple fake Aadhaar cards and were operating several social media accounts under various Hindu names. Their actions raised suspicions of a larger network aimed at religious conversion through deceitful means.
Vishal Srivastava, a representative of the Hindu organization, alleged that Naushad and Aman were part of a gang targeting girls from specific communities. He noted that other accomplices fled during the incident, complicating the investigation further. The police are currently examining the mobile phones of the suspects, which revealed numerous Instagram accounts and explicit communications with girls.
Last year, a similar gang creating fake identification documents was dismantled in the Baradari area, prompting concerns that such activities have resurfaced. Police have discovered that Naushad had traveled frequently to Kerala, where he reportedly forged connections with various individuals, raising questions about his motives and affiliations.
The investigation has unearthed chat histories and explicit videos on the suspects’ devices, leading authorities to work on identifying the girls involved. Superintendent of Police Manoj Parik confirmed the recovery of several fraudulent Aadhaar cards linked to both men and emphasized that a comprehensive investigation is underway to unravel the broader network behind these activities.
As the inquiry continues, police are keen to determine the extent of the suspects’ operations and their potential connections to a wider syndicate.
